Energy Efficient Televisions - Your Green Guide

Television Efficiency is based from the power used in watts per hour, or kilowatt hours (kWh). There are two numbers you should consider when buying a television, the power usage in the on position, and the power usage in standby mode. Look up your TV, or compare TV energy costs for a new purchase. Our Television Efficienty Cost Estimator will give you the amount of money you can expect to spend based on the television of your choice. Start by selecting a manufacturer or screen size below.

How is Efficiency Measured in Televisions?

Efficiency can be measured by the power the product uses when on, but just as important (as with electronics), the power the product uses when off, or in standby mode. Energy Vampire's are used to describe the leeching of energy by products that are turned off. Television power costs can vary from model to model and does not nessecarly depend on screen size. LCD televisions are usually more efficient than Plasma TVs or traditional Tube style TVs, but not always.
