Model Description
Technics SL-PD8 5-CD ChangerIf you've been out looking for a mid- to lower-level CD player, you've probably been unable to tell much difference in the sound quality from unit to unit. Most players at this level use inexpensive 1-bit DACs (digital-to-analog converters). Generally speaking, these players sound pretty good, so you'll probably want to base your buying decision primarily on features. If you decide that a single-disc player isn't enough for you, and you don't want to bother with one of the big 100-disc (or larger) mega-changers, Technics has a lineup of three 5-disc carousel changers. The SL-PD8 is one notch down from the top of this lineup. The main feature that distinguishes it from the top-of-the-line SL-PD10 is the absence of a pitch control you'll find on the pricier model. Technics touts this pitch control as "perfect" for deejays or exercise use. If you don't care about this feature, you can save money with the SL-PD8. Additionally, models SL-PD8 comes with a wireless remote control, have ID scan and utilize an advanced digital servo system.
